Ernie Harris has served as a Kentucky State Senator,
representing Jefferson, Oldham, Trimble, Carroll,
Gallatin and Grant Counties since January 1995.
He is a member of the following Senate Committees:
- Vice-Chairman of the Agriculture & Natural
Resources Committee
- Member of the State Government Committee
- Member of the Education Committee

Ernie Harris is married to Janet Harris, and they have
three children: Jonathan, David and Anne. He is a
commercial airline pilot for United Parcel Service,
serving as captain on Boeing 757 & 767 flights. He also
raises beef cattle and tobacco. He is a Southern Baptist
and serves as a deacon at Springdale Baptist Church.
During his twenty years of military service in the
United States Air Force, Lt. Colonel Ernie Harris earned
the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious
Service Medal, and the Combat Readiness Ribbon.
