| Councilman James Peden was elected to the
first Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Council in
November 2002. He represents the suburban cities of
Hollow Creek, Spring Mill and Heritage Creek as well as
the neighborhoods of Highview, Okolona, Fern Creek and
Newburg.
Peden holds a bachelor's degree in history and a master's
degree in teaching from the University of Louisville. He
teaches political science, economics and geography at
Seneca High School. Councilman Peden is married to wife
Debbie with daughters McKenna and Cailin.
His civic involvement includes serving as a major with
the Highview Fire Department, where he has been a member
for 20 years. He is a member of the Jefferson County
Teachers Association and Kentucky Firefighters
Association. Councilman Peden is also an award winning
gardener and cook.
Peden believes the important issues facing the 23rd
District include continuing to fight for responsible
development, continuing to work with the state to improve
infrastructure around the district and to add more retail
